2.Medium Carbon Steel Coil: Carbon content between 0.25% and 0.60%, such as 45# steel. Medium carbon steel coil has moderate strength and hardness, and certain plasticity and toughness. Its performance can be further improved through heat treatment (such as quenching and tempering treatment). It is often used to manufacture mechanical parts such as gears, shafts, connecting rods and bolts.

3.High Carbon Steel Coil: Carbon content > 0.60%, such as 65#, 80# steel, etc. High carbon steel coil has high strength, hardness and good wear resistance, but poor plasticity, toughness and welding performance. It is mainly used to manufacture products requiring high wear resistance, such as cutting tools, molds, springs and steel wire ropes.

(II) Classification by Rolling Process

1.Hot-Rolled Carbon Steel Coil: Rolled at high temperature (usually above the recrystallization temperature of steel). Hot-rolled carbon steel coil has high production efficiency, low cost, relatively large surface roughness and medium dimensional accuracy. It is mainly used for structural parts and mechanical part blanks with low requirements on surface quality and dimensional accuracy, and can also be used as raw material for cold-rolled carbon steel coil.

2.Cold-Rolled Carbon Steel Coil: Rolled at room temperature with hot-rolled carbon steel coil as raw material. Cold-rolled carbon steel coil has smooth surface, high dimensional accuracy, uniform thickness and better mechanical properties, but the production process is complex and the cost is higher. It is often used to manufacture automobile parts, household appliances, precision instrument casings and other products requiring high surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

(III) Classification by Application

It can be divided into structural carbon steel coil, stamping carbon steel coil, welding carbon steel coil, spring carbon steel coil, tool carbon steel coil, etc. Carbon steel coils for different applications have targeted designs in chemical composition, mechanical properties and processing accuracy.

V. Production Process of Carbon Steel Coil

The production of carbon steel coil is a complex systematic project, which mainly includes core processes such as ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting and rolling. The specific process is as follows:

1.Ironmaking: Feed raw materials such as iron ore, coke and limestone into the blast furnace, and carry out reduction reaction at high temperature to obtain pig iron (with high carbon content, usually above 2.11%).

2.Steelmaking: Send pig iron into a converter or electric furnace, reduce the carbon content and impurity content in pig iron by means of oxygen blowing and adding slag forming agents, adjust the chemical composition, and obtain qualified molten steel.

3.Continuous Casting: Pour molten steel into a continuous caster, cool and solidify it through a crystallizer, and draw it into billets (such as slabs, billets, etc.) to provide raw materials for the subsequent rolling process.

5.Finishing: Perform finishing processes such as straightening, shearing, surface treatment (such as pickling, galvanizing, etc.) and inspection on the rolled coil to finally obtain qualified carbon steel coil products.
